I use Canva I start with a nine-image grid and put the character’s face in the middle. When actually putting the aesthetics together, there’s not much to it. Sometimes my searches don’t really give me what I want, so I just keep going until I’ve found what I think I’ll need. Like I said, I like to start broad and narrow it down. So my searches looked a bit like this:Īnd things like that. I’ll use my moodboard for Mari to describe how I actually find these pictures.įor Mari, I decided on a gold and dark blue aesthetic, but I knew that I wanted the dark blue to be my dominating color. Then I try to mix together their personality and the aesthetic of the picture to create a general look for my board. I just scroll until I find the one and I go from there. This applies especially with my characters I usually go in with a general idea of what they look like and then browse through “Character Inspiration” folders that sometimes have over a thousand pictures. In terms of finding actual pictures, I like to start vague and gradually get more specific. I use Pinterest to find all of my pictures and to organize everything into different folders and sub-folders of the like. it could be a sample from something you’ve written or just a random quote you like.Hi there, thanks for your ask (and compliment)! STEP FIVE: finally, pick out your quote that you feel is representative of your character and/or ship. you can resize them on sites like EZgif if you do not have photoshop. STEP FOUR: if you notice that some of the text in your moodboard gifs are being cut off, this is probably because one of the gifs in a horizontal row is larger than 160 making the other gifs cut off. typically the gif of the fc goes in the center or if it’s more than one character in the moodboard, you can put their gifs on diagonal corners or on either side of the center gif. STEP THREE: now, the gifs are going to upload in all sorts of weird order and you’re going to have to rearrange them to your liking. STEP TWO: after you’ve collected the gifs you’re planning on using ( which means saving them to your computer, i typically make a folder on my computer for each specific moodboard to make them easier to find ) the next step is to open a new photo post on tumblr and click the UPLOAD PHOTO option. if you’re doing a moodboard for your ship then if both fcs do not have gifs together, you would need one of each fc which brings down your number of gifs that represent them down to 7 or 8. if you’re doing a character moodboard, typically this would be a gif of your fc that’s representative of your character.
